Paul Herman Miller of Farley, Keith Alan Myers and Mark Edwin Wittmeyer of Platte City and Michael John Driskell of Weston were among the students of the University of Missouri-Columbia who were candidates for graduation at the close of the fall semester. Students completing their degrees in December are encouraged to take part in May graduation ceremonies.
Platte County joined the rest of the Midland Empire in almost freezing to death on Monday. The wind did its part to make the zero temperature seem like 25 degrees below zero. Tuesday was warmer, about 50 degrees.
Platte County court security will be improved as a result of a move authorized last week by the Platte County Court. The court authorized Joel Bryan, courthouse groundskeeper, to replace locks on outside doors, remove the lock cylinders from all but one front door and install signs directing people to the sheriff’s department after business hours.
Approximately 400 candidates received degrees in the winter commencement exercises at the University of Missouri-Rolla on Sunday, Dec. 16 in the Gale Bullman Multi-Purpose Building on the campus. Jeffrey Lee Porter, Platte City was awarded a bachelor of science in electrical engineering and Daniel Kallenberger, Barry Road, Kansas City, North, received a bachelor of science in engineering management.
