A relatively high voter turnout is expected on Tuesday when Platte County voters head to the polls. “We’re estimating a turnout of around 50 percent,” said Ann Shafer, a director for the Platte County Board of Elections. Turnout for the primary election in August was 40 percent. Shafer said the reason officials are expecting a big turnout is the fact so many absentee ballots have already been turned in. She said as of Tuesday, with still a week to go before the election, more than 500 absentee ballots have already been returned by voters.
