Marcia Anne Smith became the bride of Christopher Brockenicky on Oct. 1 at Holy Trinity Church in Weston. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Smith, Mr. James Brokenicky of Smithville, and Mrs. Lillie Burnett of Buffalo, Mo. Grandparents are Mrs. Aliene Smith of Clinton, George Burkhard of St. Paul, Kan., Mrs. Hazel Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brokenicky of Smithville. The bride is a 1992 graduate of Smithville High School. She attends Draughons Junior College, majoring in fashion merchandising and is employed at Nashville Sports Unlimited. The groom graduated in 1989 from Smithville High School and from SMSU in 1993 with a degree in hotel management. He is employed at Opryland Hotel.


Proposal number seven was the winner in a vote by the Platte County R-3 School Board to decide which facilities proposal would best serve the growing needs of the district. Proposal seven calls for the following: minor renovation to Platte City Elementary; building a new elementary to accommodate 450-500 children, based on requirements for full day kindergarten and classrooms of 25 children each; renovations to Barry School including building a new gym and converting the old gym into a technology lab and library; building on four air-conditioned rooms at the high school; and closing East Platte Elementary School.
