EDITOR:

When I met Marcus Farr I was very impressed with his commitment to our county, experience, and integrity. He truly cares about his fellow neighbors and will always do the right thing.

Sam, it was Biden’s work, not Trump’s

Voters, how do we make you care?

Farr has gained valuable knowledge working in the assessor’s office today, and will continue to ensure we are all represented in the best way possible. I believe that I know why Farr wants to run for this office. He will advocate for his community in a leadership role – not for personal gain. He is a new voice – someone I want to see expand his career in Platte County.

Dagmar Wood is now the first district county commissioner. But she is running for the county assessor position. Why?

The assessor sets a value on property, not the tax rate. If Wood really cared about your property taxes she would work with the taxing entities to get their levies under control, which would lower the tax rate for everyone, thereby helping all taxpayers.

Wood claims to have “fought property tax hikes by implementing a new credit-freeze for seniors.” That is a law passed by the state and if you check into the details for your property, it probably will not save you what you think. It is doubtful it will be enough relief to allow you to stay in your home as advertised. But it is a great talking point and Wood hopes to get the uninformed voter to support her with this.

Dagmar Wood says she has already “empowered property owners with a voice in valuation appeals.” However, property owners have ALWAYS had a voice in appeals.

From where I sit, Wood’s interest in this position is political. She is supporting the biggest tax increase in county history because she thinks we need a huge jail that we can rent out to other counties. How things have changed since her stance in 2014.

Consider your options wisely – a politician or a new voice.
