Tax credits that make homes affordable

EDITOR:

As a retired engineer and military veteran in Parkville, I know the value of smart, efficient systems. That’s why I upgraded my 1943 home with solar panels and insulation. Thanks to the 25C and 25D tax credits, I could afford these improvements, which have slashed my energy bills, sometimes to $0. For eight months a year, I even send power back to the grid.

What about Kansas?

Looking forward to what’s ahead

These upgrades aren’t just about saving money—they show the way forward for our entire energy system. When we generate more power (from solar or any source) and use less for heating and cooling, we free up electricity for where it really matters, like manufacturing and AI.

Unfortunately, the House just passed a bill that would eliminate the 25C and 25D tax credits at the end of this year. That’s a direct attack on families trying to make their homes resilient and affordable, especially as utility rates keep rising.

Missouri’s senators, Josh Hawley and Eric Schmitt, should defend the 25C and 25D credits. Don’t take away the tools that help Missouri families save money and keep the lights on. Please stand up for our budgets and jobs.
