Real estate, rusted vents and such

The entire administration that has lied about the cognitive condition of our president for months, if not years, is our protection against the end of Democracy? Got it. Between you and I, I’m beginning to question if our government is on our side.

Remember when a guy became president of the United States by changing all the voting laws, hiding in a basement, and running against an incumbent with toddler tendencies? Those were the days.

Take a break, Missouri Legislature and such

While we are talking about things that don’t make sense, let us revisit real estate. Particularly Platte County real estate. Jerome Powell cannot stamp out your demand for nice houses. In the last 12 months there have been 32 sales of over $1,000,000 in Platte County. The highest reported sale in the county on the local MLS is $2,947,169. By address, Parkville is now leading the pack with 12 of those sales, followed by Weatherby Lake with six of them.

For perspective, there were 47 sales over $1,000,000 in the prior year. So the demand is down a bit, but you still got some neighbors with some jingle in their pocket.

Anyway, let’s hope that these are all old people, and we can eventually give them some property tax freeze relief and make sure the taxes on these are paid by younger, less affluent people.

Surely you understand that I’m joking. I want to be old and have my kids pay my taxes, too. I’m all for this new legislative push that panders to old people as I have plans to become old.

Don’t fret if you are looking for a pricey pad in Platte County. There is a $6.9 million spread available in West Shore area of Riss Lake in Parkville. This Julian built home offers you 18,000 square feet to spread out a bit if you like a little distance between you and family and eight bathrooms if you like a little variety in your bathroom habits. Annual HOA dues are only $9,000, with an initiation fee of $15,000. That’s near bargain living.

If that does not float your boat and you want a little space, there is a $5.9 million spread available north of Platte City on 6.75 acres and with a more pedestrian 3,600 square feet. This place has a barn with an apartment and such if you have a mother-in-law, girlfriend or someone special you want to live close to you. Really a bargain when you consider it is within minutes of Dunkin Donuts at the Trex Mart.

Anyway, the opportunity has not passed you by. Call your realtor today.

I’m no banker, but if you could get that Don Julian beast in Parkville for $6.0 million and put $1.0 million down, your payment would only be about $32,280 a month at current interest rates. Honestly, sounds cheap, right?

The Platte County jail expansion push is in full push mode. I watched some Fox 4 video this week and it was classic “look at how bad this place is tour.” It reminded me of the “no place to plug in your phones at the old airport” marketing. “The Platte County jail has rusted out vents” was the focus of one video I watched. Heck, close the place down for safety if it has rusted vents.

Anyway, that vote is headed your way. If it passes, I suspect they will ask Foley to cut the ribbon when they start stacking jail pods in Downtown Platte City.
