A seafood restaurant in Platte County has closed its doors. Bonefish Grill, located at 6334 N. Lucerne Ave., Kansas City in Platte County just off of 64th Street, closed for good in recent days after nearly 18 years in business at that spot. “Closed” signs could be found posted outside the restaurant this week, and company officials said that last Friday, Feb. 23 was the final day in business for the restaurant, perhaps best known for its menu item Bang Bang Shrimp. The restaurant’s parent company, Bloomin’ Brands, announced it is closing 41 underperforming locations in its group of casual dining restaurants, which include Carabba’s Italian Grill and Outback Steakhouse. The company said closures were due to a variety of reasons, including sales, shrinking customer traffic and in some cases older properties that it viewed as too costly to improve. The Bonefish Grill on Lucerne Ave. is the only Kansas City area location affected by Bloomin’ Brands closures. Diners looking for another Bonefish Grill to patronize can find one at 5021 W. 135th St. in Leawood, Kan.
