As of Jan. 20, the use of radar detectors in all passenger or cargo carrying commercial motor vehicles is illegal in the State of Missouri. The Federal Highway Administration, through their rule-making process, banned the use of radar detectors by commercial motor vehicles by amending their Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations. Missouri is one of 20 states that automatically adopts any regulation changes by the Federal Highway Administration.


The students at Barry Elementary that teachers caught being good during the month of December are Ashley Petitt, first grade; Stacy Capp, kindergarten; Katie Buchanan, first grade; Bryan Eisenberger, kindergarten; Nikki Shadday, first grade; Brett Daniel second grade; Kathryn Richardson, second grade; and Liza Urdang, second grade.

The filing deadline for city and school board positions was Tuesday at 5 p.m. with filing heavy at North Platte but relatively light in Platte City and Platte County R-3. Six candidates will be on the school board ballot for two positions at North Platte. Incumbent Billy Ray Shanks, will be joined in the race by Don Boyer, Ronnie Baker, Michelle Barton, Janice Scott and Kenneth Farr. Incumbent Platte City Mayor Pearl Brown will run unopposed. Also unopposed are ward one alderman Roger Baskett and ward three alderman Cecil Barton.
