Just got back from a tremendous post-holiday vacation and there are a TON of things to catch up on. It’s just too bad that the Cowboys and Eagles won’t be around to hear them.

•For starters, we need to talk about this weather. There has been a difference of 155 degrees over the last 12 months between the highest heat index and whatever the polar hell we are in right now. If you don’t believe in climate change, I genuinely am curious as to what you think is going on here.

Internet, down

Bleep, blorp, beep–The robots are coming

Signs of the times

•It’s been so cold outside, my poor puppy Tuco has resorted to pooping on three legs.

•Is there a better organization printing money right now than the NFL? Negative a billion degrees outside and fans are still lining up 18 hours early to watch a football game. Beers are freezing and people still buy the beers. They seem to have a license to steal at this point.

•I tried. I really did. I went a whole month away from Twitter after Elmo Musk’s latest buffoonery with the intention of never coming back. I can’t do it. There is simply not a website better designed to talk with the masses during sporting events than Twitter. There are a million sites where you can post pictures of your lunch or give some aspirational message. But I do the Internet simply to talk about sports – and there’s nothing better designed than Twitter. To paraphrase Office Space – “Why should I leave? [Elon’s] the one that sucks.”

•Did you get your COVID booster yet? With sisters who are nursing in hospitals, they tell me to get the shot. Maybe you’ll bump into Travis Kelce?

•Last week, we re-ran my article about my hippie car EV that I bought last year. This past week, I drove it (somewhat successfully) from Kansas City to Miami – over 2400 miles. EV’s are fantastic for driving locally, but I would not recommend driving it on a longer than three hour road trip. The EV infrastructure simply is not yet in place. It will be fine in five years or so – but for now, it was a mess. Took me two and a half days to drive each way and added about eight hours to the trip with just charging. It’s do-able, but not ideal. Next time, I’m flying.

•It’s going to be a crazy sports week getting ready for the Chiefs to head up to the Bills on Sunday. There is a very real chance that this will be the final Chiefs game of the year. I am confident in the Chiefs to ultimately beat Josh Allen and the Bills, but we’ve all seen the “bad Chiefs” this year, and it could easily happen. That being said, if I’m Josh Allen, I’m hydrating and stocking up on Ibuprofen because if this is Chris Jones’ last game as a Chief, he’s going to take it out on someone and that someone has ALLEN tackle-twilled on his back. Prediction: Chiefs 24-Bills 21.

•The offer for Taylor Swift to come on Landmark Live still stands. This offer won’t be open indefinitely, so if anyone runs into her at Hy-Vee, please let her know.
