Restaurant, retail tenants added at Metro North Crossing

Developers say the Woodstone building at Metro North Crossing is now 97 percent leased. Third Street Social will occupy 7,000 square feet as the anchor tenant within the retail portion of the project with an anticipated January 2024 opening. DUTCH BROS. COFFEE AND MORE

Metro North Crossing is nearing completion of a new, freestanding, $5 million, 15,000 square foot building designed for restaurant and retail tenants as part of the $250 million mixed-use development.

The developers have announced KPOT Korean BBQ and Hot Pot as the first tenant and the first location in Kansas City, Mo. KPOT anticipates a summer 2024 opening.

KPOT is a hands-on, all-you-can-eat dining experience that merges traditional Asian Hot Pot with Korean BBQ flavors, modernized with a full bar and nightlife-like atmosphere. It focuses on global spice and seasonings.

KPOT was founded by four friends from different backgrounds with their first location opening in 2018. Since then, KPOT has grown to more than 50 locations across the country.

Woodstone

The Hull family recently opened the first brick and mortar location of its Hullhouse Coffee in November in Woodstone, the $60 million luxury apartment and mixed-use project within Metro North Crossing that was completed in late 2022.

Hullhouse Coffee was created by a coffee loving family that wanted to make a difference in the community by creating a fun, loving work environment for their son and other young adults with intellectual disabilities.

“We have loved getting to know the Hull family,” says Dan Horn, project manager, Metro North Crossing, LLC. “Their passion for coffee and helping others is contagious and we couldn’t be more excited to have them as a tenant at Metro North Crossing.”

Woodstone is now 97 percent leased. Third Street Social will occupy 7,000 square feet as the anchor tenant within the retail portion of the project with an anticipated January 2024 opening.

Tenants previously announced and already open include HOTWORX and Bloom Nails & Spa.

Dutch Brothers

Dutch Bros. Coffee is now open with a freestanding coffee location at 350 NW Barry Road. Named one of Forbes Small Giants: America’s Best Small Companies in 2017, Dutch Bros is rapidly expanding to the Midwest and beyond with more than 450 locations in 11 states across the U.S. Based in Oregon, the premium drive-through coffee chain is known for its cold brew and white bean coffee.

Menu selections highlight a variety of both hot and cold beverages including coffees; Dutch Freeze, a blended espresso; Dutch Frost, a take on a classic shake; and Dutch Soda, a flavor-infused sparking water; as well as a variety of chai, energy drinks, teas, smoothies, lemonades, pastries, granola bars, and more.
Metro North Crossing is a highly anticipated development in the Northland on the former site of the Metro North Mall.

Previously announced and already open are Hawaiian Bros Island Grill (opened December 2022) and Whataburger (opened January 2023). The partners in Metro North Crossing also own and developed T-Shotz, a 52,000 square-foot golf entertainment venue (opened 2020).

“KPOT is a great addition to our project,” says Horn. “Our area of the Northland needs new and exciting dining options and KPOT absolutely fits that void. Bringing both Third Street Social and KPOT to Metro North Crossing is a huge step for this project. Metro North’s revitalization is just getting started and these two restaurants are the perfect fits to help us continue to drive the development forward.”

About Metro North Crossing

Metro North Crossing is a 106-acre mixed use redevelopment on the former site of the Metro North Mall. The total projected cost of the development is estimated at more than $250M with an estimated $100M invested to date on the completed phases, including the $60M Woodstone luxury apartments. Metro North Crossing is the third major mall redevelopment for IAS Partners, the local development team which also completed the redevelopment of the Antioch Center Mall and the Blue Ridge Mall. IAS recently acquired the former Sam’s Town Casino.
