The Parkville Chamber of Commerce met Thursday, Oct. 9 at Hillcrest Ministries Thrift Store. Parkville Chamber President Bill Quitmeier welcomed the crowd, which included Hillcrest director Eric Haynes, Platte County Public Administrator Terry Edwards, Platte County Auditor Siobhann Williams, and former Parkville Mayor Kathy Dusenbery, and several volunteers.


The family of George Fee of Weston would like you to help them celebrate his 80th birthday on Sunday, Oct. 19. There will be an open house at the Masonic Lodge, 507 Main Street, Weston, from 1-5 p.m. Everyone is invited to come by, visit and reminisce with George. The family requests no gifts, cards only.

On Tuesday, officials broke ground on the KCI Intermodal BusinessCentre near the 112th Street exit off Interstate 29. The project will consist of warehouses and offices on property owned by the airport with some buildings having direct runway access.


A man was struck and killed by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train in Downtown Parkville on Wednesday night about 9 p.m. at the Main street railroad crossing near the former Power Plant restaurant. Police said the medical examiner is still attempting to identify the man through dental records. Police said it appears the man intentionally walked onto the tracks in front of a train headed eastbound through Parkville.
