A new animal ordinance was adopted by the Weston Board of Aldermen. The ordinance provides new regulations on how residents must restrain animals and provides penalties for violations. The ordinance prohibits a person allowing a dog to defecate on any place except the owner’s property.


The Missouri Department of Transportation will be requesting an additional 100 ft. of right of way on the north side of Hwy 92 adjacent to the proposed Lake at Tomahawke Ridge development. Tomahawke Ridge is a proposal of 680 homes on roughly 300 acres near Hwy. 92 and Winan Road, about four miles east of Platte City.

Platte County Sheriff’s Department deputies believe they are nearing the capture of burglars who have struck several homes in the northern part of Platte County. So far the department has identified seven or eight burglaries as being similar. Cpt. Frank Hunter says the linked burglaries started right after the beginning of the year and the burglars have gotten away with tens of thousands of dollars worth of items. The burglaries have occurred in the general area along the Hwy. 371 corridor. Areas hit have been between Weston and Smithville, north of Platte City and south of Dearborn.


The Landmark’s 12th annual NCAA bracket contest is coming soon. It’s the original and longest-running public bracket contest in Platte County.
