The Platte County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting sobriety checkpoints within the County of Platte during the next few days. These checkpoints are aimed at reducing the number of intoxicated driver-related accidents which occur on our roadways. The checkpoints will involve a brief stopping of traffic to check for drinking drivers. Confirmed intoxicated drivers will be arrested. Officers will also be checking for seat belt violations. Area motorists may be slightly inconvenienced by these checks, says Sheriff Tom Thomas, however, citizen patience and cooperation will assist in this public safety effort.
