Three candidates have filed for the two Platte County R-3 School Board positions in the April 7 election. They are Betty Knight, Carey Rolofson and Warren Hawkins.


The proposed ramp at HH (Main Street and I-29 in Platte City) is on the state construction schedule, State Rep. Gary Witt reported this week. Witt said that bids on the ramp, combined with resurfacing of I-29, will be taken this April. Both projects are to be completed in two years and sometime during that two years, when they have the road closed, they will do the ramp. “It is definitely a funded project,” Witt said.

The police are seeking information about the identity of a woman found dead Sunday near Hwy. 45 north of Farley. Lt. Greg Crader of the Platte County Sheriff’s Department said the woman died of asphyxiation, an autopsy has revealed. The death is being investigated as a homicide.


Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Campbell hosted a family potluck dinner Sunday at the Chamber of Commerce building for the Spiers families. It was in honor of David Spiers and Wendy Townsend, who were married March 7, 1992. The newlyweds plan on moving to Florida to live.


Carl Deal was a patient at Spelman Hospital this past week with a heart condition.
