Frances E. Durham, treasurer of Platte County, attended the State Treasurers Convention in Jefferson City on March 15 and 16. Mrs. Durham was elected president of the state association for the 1977-78 term.


The combined boards of the Platte Purchase Chapter of the DAR and the Platte County Historical Society voted to name the museum the “Ben Ferrel Platte County Museum” after the benefactor who left the two groups the money to purchase the property.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray D. Brightwell of Platte City will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house on April 3. Hosting the event is their son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Ann Brightwell.


Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Belcher and family of Birmingham, Ala. visited Mr. and Mrs. Charles McClain, Grace Ann and Kathleen, and other friends and relatives in Platte City last week. Mrs. Belcher will be remembered as the former Pat Slusher.


Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Johnson attended the 20th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Hill of Cameron on Saturday. Mrs. Hill is the daughter of Mrs. Johnson.


Robert Hauetter of Barry is reported to be recovering nicely from serious surgery.
