There are now new faces in City Hall in Platte City these days. Phyllis Filley, a temporary employee, and Judy Brown, who will be administrative assistant to the city administrator. Phyllis replaces Jacqueline Bryan, who will be off 10 weeks for surgery. Judy is the “big sister” of local realtor Bill Brown.
Platte City Mayor Steve Wegner signed a proclamation designating February as American History Month, with Carole Coots of the DAR as witness. The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution sponsor February as American History Month each year to stimulate a knowledge of and sense of pride in our nation’s great achievements.
Debra K. Eggen, daughter of Sandy and Keith Eggen, Platte City, and Brent Leon Heiser of Ceresco, Neb. were united in marriage on Jan. 4 at the United Methodist Church at Platte City. The wedding was officiated by the Rev. Marvin Davis of Republic, Mo.
A former Platte City resident has been chosen for a national award. Steven Bishop, police chief of Kansas City, is one of five persons nationally to be selected for the award given to outstanding public officials.
