Mr. and Mrs. Duane Soper of Platte City have announced the birth of their son, Donald Alexander. Alex was born at 8:44 a.m. at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. He weighed five pounds, six ounces and was 19 inches long. Alex’s maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Dale Schwab of Platte City. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Don Soper, also of Platte City.


The Platte County Pirates are KCI champions. A 33-14 triumph over Smithville Friday night wrapped up the large division title for Platte County as the Pirates finished KCI play 4-0.

Marine Pfc. Aaron D. Eckerberg, son of Arthur D. and Cecelia M. Eckerberg of 417 Wells Drive, Platte City, Missouri, recently completed recruit training and was promoted to his present rank. During the training cycle at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, recruits are taught the basics of battlefield survival, introduced to typical military daily routine and personal and professional standards.


Airman First Class Lisa M. Hartell has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. During six weeks of training, the airman studied Air Force mission, organization and received special training in human relations.
