About 75 firefighters from eight area fire departments responded to a fire Monday at the Holladay bar and grill in Weston. John Ross, owner, speculated the fire could have been started by either an electrical malfunction or grease on a stove. Fire officials estimated the damage at $50,000 to the restaurant and there was also damage to two neighboring business firms.

In a brief ceremony Monday afternoon, F.M. and Mary Kay Wilson donated a building they own to the City of Platte City. The building is the west part of the structure at Second Street and Main, which housed the Division of Family Services. It will be used for the police department and the municipal division of court.
