Claire McCaskill, candidate for U.S. Senate, and other Democrats will be at the new Platte County Democrats office at Boardwalk Shopping Center at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 29. The new headquarters for all things Democrat in Platte County is located at 6246 NW Barry Road, Kansas City. Find the headquarters just east of I-29 and Barry Road in Boardwalk Shopping Center, right behind Winstead’s.


Weston police officers are pursuing several leads that have been developed through the TIPS Hotline about the acts of vandalism at West Platte High School on July 8, Weston Police Chief Terry Blanton confirmed. Also, the amount of the reward fund to be paid to the person or persons who provide the conclusive information about the crime has risen from $200 to about $5,000 over just a few days’ time, Blanton said. Early in the morning of July 8, vandals broke into the West Platte High School and did approximately $35,000 in damage, most of which will be covered by the school’s insurance.

The Platte County R-3 School Board has voted to raise the district’s teacher base salary by $1,000, from $31,000 to $32,000 and gave a five percent salary increase to employees not on the teacher salary schedule.
