James Farley, longtime active Democrat, was given the annual Jerry Litton Award at the Northwest Missouri Pony Express Democrat Days held in St. Joseph over the weekend. Farley, who has a law firm in Platte City, is an attorney and banker from Farley in Platte County.


Plans for turning the old Annex elementary school into a Platte City Community Center that would have been a joint project between the R-3 school district and the City of Platte City have been discarded. It has now been decide to use the old Annex building as storage for the R-3 school district.

The tennis courts on the Platte County School District grounds in Platte City are in place and ready for players. The courts had to be moved to make room for the new Platte City Middle School. New home for the tennis courts is behind the old middle school building, near the Vo-Tech student parking lot.


A popular eating establishment in Platte City, Fannie’s Restaurant, was recently featured in a travel guide publication. The article tells readers not to miss eating at the restaurant, located across the street from the Platte County Courthouse on Main Street in downtown Platte City. High praise was especially given to the bread, rolls, and other baked goods served at Fannie’s.
