Kristine Denny, 20, daughter of Robert and Deborah Denney of Ridgely and a graduate of North Platte R-1 has been named Miss Congeniality in connection with the Platte County Fair Queen contest. She is sponsored by Denney Electric.


Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rhodes of Platte City have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Cynthia Rhodes, to James Dickerson, son of Mr. an Mrs. John Dickerson of Kansas City.

Lloyd and Betty Long of Platte City will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house July 21.


Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hershley are the proud parents of a baby boy born July 9, 1991. He was given the name of Cliff Edward and he weighed seven pounds, two ounces and was 19.5 inches long. The maternal grandparents are Tom and Judy Farrell and the paternal grandparents are R.C. Hershley and Beverly Hershley.


The West Platte R-2 School Board Monday night approved a deficit budget that calls for $3,383,278 in expenditures with revenues of $3,175,665 for the 1991-92 school year. Last year’s budget was also a deficit budget.


Platte County High School head football coach Chip Sherman will host a high school football camp at the high school next week.
