The 113th Annual Platte County Fair opens officially next Wednesday, July 21, with a “Do Your Own Thing” on Tuesday night at the fairgrounds in Tracy.

Greg Pool has recently been appointed manager of the Platte City Ferrellgas Branch. He had been managing the company’s Atchison office prior to the move.

An architect’s drawing of the Platte County Courthouse after its proposed restoration shows it will make it look a lot like the original building. A $1.9 million proposal will be voted on in the August primary election to provide for renovation of the courthouse, including sandblasting the brick to the original red bricks and completely renovating the two floors of offices. The lobby will retain the antique look of the Civil War era while everything else will be new and modern to provide efficient working conditions for county officials and service area for the public.

The South Platte Fire and Rescue Department No. 3 will now be housed on Hwy. 45.
