Candidates for the 1991 Platte County Fair Queen are Maria Finley, Shelle Buckler, Kristine Denney, Heather Grame, Robyn Winfrey, Shannon Smither, Kimberly Waller, Cindy Saylor, Chris Chambers and Tracey Jarman.


Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Silvey of Parkville have announced the arrival of a little girl, Rachel Marie, born June 18, 1991. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Howard C. Breen, Kansas City, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert R Silvy, St. Louis.

Dr. Francis Moran, superintendent at Keytesville, Mo, has been signed at North Platte R-1 School District in Dearborn. He starts July 15 and succeeds Mike Newell, who has accepted the position as superintendent at Bowling Green, Mo.


Tessa Newman, 12, will compete at the National Show-stopper Talent Competition in Anaheim, Calif., during July. She qualified for national competition in the area of tap dance. She is the daughter of Larry and Janet Newman of Platte City.


Jim Lance of Tracy has retired after 44 years with Teamsters Local No. 41 and 28 years with Churchill Truck Lines. Employees presented him with a cake with a picture of a truck on it, plaques and gifts.


Dr. Greg Nolting, a faculty member of the University of Missouri, has taken over his new duties as assistant director of the Platte County Vo-Tech School in Platte City.
