Frank Wheeler, former head coach at Albany high school and most recently an assistant coach at William Jewell College, has been hired as the boys basketball coach at Platte County R-3 High School for the 1991-92 school year. In addition to his coaching duties, Wheeler will be a science teacher at both the high school and middle school levels.


Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Miller of Dearborn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, April 14. The celebration, held at a Platte City restaurant, was hosted by their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Rawlings.

The Platte County Commission Thursday approved a request to purchase bleachers for use by the East Platte Athletic Association and the Platte County Parks and Recreation Commission. Each organization will get two sets of five-row bleachers at $1,461.


Christie Peterson, 16, daughter of Mrs. Ruth Peterson, was chosen as the top junior in the Kansas City area in an essay contest sponsored by the Kansas City Crime Commission. She received $250 and is now eligible to compete for a $1,000 prize.


Pornography is posing a real danger to our young people, the Platte City Board of Aldermen was told Monday night. Dan Jones of the Coalition Against Pornography spoke to the aldermen.
