Lloyd F. and Dorothy Grisham of rural Platte City will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on March 24, 1991. A reception in their honor will be held at the Park Hill Christian Church. The Grishams have two children, Lloyd, Platte City, and Carl, Portland, Oregon.


The Platte County Commission Thursday authorized a request for bids for park equipment intended for use in the Camden Point park under the outreach program of the county parks and recreation board.

Diane Buckler has started work as Platte City’s first full-time policewoman. She had been serving as a reserve police officer for Platte City. Addition of Mrs. Buckler brings the Platte City Police Department to a strength of five full time officers plus reserves.


Don Dee, a former professional basketball player and a 1968 Olympic gold medal winner, has joined the athletic program at Maple Woods Community College. Dee, 48, will coordinate fundraising and promotional activities for the college’s athletic booster club.


Students from North Kansas City High School battled their way to victory last week during the seventh annual Scholar Bowl Contest sponsored by Maple Woods Community College. After five days of competition, they captured first place.
