Ralph Landis has been named director of public safety for the City of Platte City Landis has been with the Platte City Police Department since 1983. He has risen to the rank of sergeant and was appointed executive officer in September.
Platte County issued building permits for $12,881,000 in construction during the year 1990, Gail Cantu, zoning enforcement officer, said this week. This is down from the $13.8 million in construction for 1989 and the $14.8 million in construction for 1988.

A victory over Rock Port on Tuesday has placed the Platte County Pirates in a semifinal round game with their hosts from Savannah in the 64th Savannah Invitational being played this week. The game ended with the Pirates hanging on for a 48-45 victory.
Mr. and Mrs. Grundy Newton of Platte City spent a week on a ski trip to Colorado. Their son, Clint, left for England as an exchange student from William Jewell College.
