Aided by mild temperatures, there was some hustle and bustle and plenty of foot traffic in downtown Parkville on Saturday, Nov. 28 during what is known as Small Business Saturday. A “Shop Small Passport” event was hosted by the Main Street Parkville Association. Shoppers could earn gift cards to the places they love to shop and dine. Shoppers picked up passports and filled it with stamps when they made a purchase at local businesses. Due to the pandemic, the National Federation of Independent Business called this year “one of the most difficult years ever for many locally owned businesses across Missouri. That’s especially true for restaurants and retail shops.” The NFIB says it encourages shoppers to patronize small business owners this holiday season.
