Students, faculty and staff at Platte County Area Vocational-Technical School are preparing cookies to be sent to our service men and women stationed in Saudi Arabia. As the cookies come in they are packed and wrapped by the VICA members from each department and sent overseas in time for Christmas. Over 30 recent graduates of Vo-Tech are currently serving in the Armed Forces.


Sp/4 Gary Jones and Margie are the parents of a boy, Michael Lawton Jones, born Nov. 27, 1990 at Worth County Hospital, Sylvester, Ga. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Gann of Poulan, Ga. Paternal grandmother is Libby Jones of Parkville. Great-grandmother is Lucile L. Jones, Platte City. Gary is with the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg, N.C. He graduated from West Platte High School in 1984.

Steve Hardesty has moved his business, Hardesty Alignment, to a new building about a half mile east of I-29 near Platte City. Hardesty owns the building, which has more space than his former location, which he had been at for 11 years.


Mr. and Mrs. Dave Neitzer have announced the birth of a daughter born on Nov. 26 at St. Luke’s Hospital. The little lady has been named Stacey Jill and weighed seven pounds, 14 ounces.
