With dollar amounts ranging from $8,000 to nearly $45,000, seven businesses were approved for grants that will be fulfilled with federal CARES Act dollars.

The approval of the grants was performed Monday by the Platte County Commission. Total dollar amount of the seven approvals is just north of $191,000.

Among the recipients this week are two restaurants, including Hereford House at Zona Rosa and the Ixtapa Fine Mexican Cuisine on Barry Road. Hereford House will get nearly $45,000 and Ixtapa gets $30,000.

Getting approval this week:

*Kansas City Gymnastics School, $29,402.06.

*Walden Limousine Service LLC dba KCNight Train, $34,968.

*Samsara Vintage Home LLC, $14,105.

*Hereford House Zona Rosa LLC, $44,372.

*KC Premiere MAYB/LLC, DBA KC Premiere Basketball, $30,000.

*Mazcota LLC dba Ixtapa Fine Mexican Cuisine, $30,000.

*The Rumpled Nest LLC dba The Rumpled Nest, $8,294.

In the spring, $12.2 million federal CARES Act money was distributed to the Platte County Commission by the state treasurer. The state treasurer at the time asked the commissioners to pass $6 million of that to the City of Kansas City, based on the fact half of Platte County’s population is comprised of Kansas City residents.

A primary intent of CARES Act aid was to assist public agencies in their expenses/response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Platte County has not yet shared any of the $12.2 million with the health department or any other public agency.
