A special permit was approved by Platte County last week for construction of an 18-hole golf course at M-92 and Bethel Road, a couple miles northeast of Platte City. The Platte County Planning Commission approved the course, which will include a 9,000 sq. ft. clubhouse. Construction is expected to start immediately.


Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clifford Williams of Dearborn, wish to announce the engagement of their daughter, Leasa Renee to William Dean Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Rogers of Edgerton. The couple plans on a February wedding when he returns from a tour of duty in Japan on the carrier Midway.

An outstanding 101 pupils showed up to participate and work at the Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church, Platte City, Aug. 6-10. There were a total of 72 children and 29 workers. The five days were filled with activities to enrich the soul, mind, and body. They concluded their week of studies with a trip to the St. Louis Zoo, and the Gateway Arch.


Taxpayers in the Platte County R-3 school district may notice an increase in their tax bills for the ’90-’91 school year. The R-3 Board of Education has set a tax rate that will raise an estimated 16% more property tax revenue during the fiscal year that began July 1 than in the previous year. The board approved a tax levy of $3.81 per $100 of assessed valuation.
