The Hal Swaney family of rural Platte City was on hand Friday afternoon at KCI Airport for the arrival of their AFS student, Fabieene LeBouil, 18, of Anglers, France. She will stay with the Swaney family during the school year and attend Platte County R-3.


Workmen hanging from scaffolds were nearing completion this week on painting the old water tower orange. Special care was taken not to drop paint on any cars belonging to Sonny Hill Motors.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray E. Bogart of Platte City, Mo., have announced the engagement of their daughter, Stacy Rae, to Ronnie Dean Benton, son of Mr. and Mrs. James D. Benton of Burgaw, North Carolina. The wedding will take place Friday, Sept. 7, 1990 at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Platte City. Following the ceremony, a reception will be held at Basswood.


Keith and Lori O’Neal are the proud parents of a baby girl. Maggie O’Neal arrived at Shawnee Mission Hospital, Kansas City, Ks. weighing 6lbs. 2oz. Mary Skaggs is the proud great-grandmother.


The city of Platte City and the Platte County R-3 School District have a mutual problem that is going to cost about $100,000 to fix. City Administrator Tim Ryan reported to the Platte City Board of Aldermen Tuesday night that the new $3 million middle school that R-3 will be building will be located on top of a city water line and city sewer line and no easements were filed.
