LC’s hamburgers to open in Platte City

Burger lovers, take note.

LC’s burgers, a longtime popular burger joint in Platte Woods that has become a family tradition for many Platte Countians, will be opening a Platte City location soon.

Harold Jordan, who will be one of the owners of the Platte City location along with Platte Woods owner Mark Potts, says the restaurant is scheduled to open in mid-to-late February.

LC’s in Platte City will be located at 1302 Platte Falls Rd., Suite A, in the strip mall in front of the local Price Chopper. It will be in the spot most recently occupied by New Shanghai Asian Food.

The LC’s folks have been busy getting the location ready to occupy. The LC’s food truck has been spotted parked near the building quite often recently.

“We’ll have the same menu as the Platte Woods location,” Jordan told The Landmark in a phone interview Thursday.

Asked what makes the LC’s burgers popular with so many folks, Jordan said:

“The meat is never frozen. And our onions are seared into the patty, not served on the side. And everything is made from scratch.”

The menu will also include tenderloins, pork fritters, Italian steak sandwiches, specialty burgers like the 911 (with pepper jack cheese, jalapeno peppers and buffalo sauce), onion rings, french fries, fried pickles and tater tots.

In recent years the LC’s has added things like tacos, Philly cheese steaks, chili cheese fries and bacon cheese fries to its menu, Jordan said.

And yes, the Platte City location will have those well-known LC’s ice cream shakes and floats.

Jordan, who has worked inside the LC’s food truck when it has appeared at many Platte City community events, says LC’s is strongly considering adding a breakfast menu to its Platte City location.

If so, that breakfast menu would include things like homemade potatoes and onions, bacon sausage, eggs and toast.

“All these items would be $1 each. We would have a breakfast dollar menu,” he said.

Hours at the Platte City location for lunch and dinner will be Monday through Thursday 11-8, Friday and Saturday 11-9.

If the restaurant adds its breakfast menu, the hours for breakfast will be 7-11 a.m. Monday through Saturday, Jordan said.

LC’s location at Platte Woods, located at 7612 NW Prairie View Rd, Kansas City, first opened in 1973. It built a strong customer base that passed its fondness for the restaurant on to next generations.

Potts purchased LC’s from L.C. Ridenhour in 1998.

In 2014, the Platte Woods location suffered a fire that forced the restaurant to shut down for 10 months before it reopened in March of 2015.
