Northern Platte County Community Center OpensApproximately 60 Platte County officials, YMCA employees and county residents turned out on Saturday for the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at the Northern Platte County Community Center. After the ribbon was cut, tours of the facility were open to the public.

The $7.5 million, 29,000 square foot facility, located at 3101 Running Horse Road, includes a wellness center, indoor gymnasium, indoor family aquatics center, outdoor spray garden featuring a water cannon, a small water slide and a wet rainbow, an indoor walking track, indoor and outdoor playground equipment, locker rooms and a lounge. The community center was built using funds from the 1/2 cent sales tax for parks and recreation. The southern community center, to be located at 8875 Clark Ave., Parkville, is scheduled to be open in January.
