A Platte County Sheriff’s Department special response team served a narcotics search warrant at 400 Academy in Camden Point on Friday shortly after midnight and arrested three people. Arrested and charged with possession of narcotics were: Raymond L. Brightwell, 35, a resident of the house; Stacy L. Dennis, 29, also a resident; and Chad L. Parsons, 21, of Trimble. Major Greg Crader of the sheriff’s department said found at the scene were 28 hits of acid, four ounces of psilocybin mushrooms, one quarter pound of marijuana, and small amounts of crack and powder cocaine. All three suspects are free after posting bail of $20,000 each, according to authorities.
Nina K. Vandeweerdhof, 40, a mother of three children, was found guilty in Platte County Circuit Court Tuesday of charges of promoting prostitution. Vanderweerdhof, of Platte County, was found guilty of prostitution in the third degree. The trial had begun on Monday. An investigation into suspected prostitution activities began with an anonymous tip to the Platte County Sheriff’s Department in September of 1993. The two-year investigation revealed that Vanderweerdhof was operating an escort service out of her home, authorities say, which included prostitution activities. The maximum punishment allowed is five years and a fine. Sentencing has been set for May 13 before Judge Ward B. Stuckey.
