Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Carney will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 6, 1991 with a reception from 2-4 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Clubhouse in Weston. It will be hosted by their daughter, Kaye Johnson and Iva Tubbs and grandchildren.


A Christmas play was presented for parents and grades K-5 at the Platte City Elementary Annex, on Dec. 20. The actors were all students in Suzanne Goodpaster’s class.

Progress may be temporarily slowed because of recent snow and bitter cold but it looks as if the addition at Barry Middle School will be ready for the start of the 91-92 school year and the new middle school should be ready by the second semester of that year.


A baby shower was given for Debbie Nertzer at the Christian Church on Sunday, Dec. 16. The baby’s name is Stacy and she received many pretty things.


A horse-drawn sleigh provided rides for kids and their parents last week at Ark of Angels Day Care. Many parents had video cameras to record the Christmas time activities, which included a visit from Santa as well as the buggy ride.


Pauline Sherwood of Edgerton had cataract surgery in St. Joseph on Friday.
