The community-wide sale was started to increase traffic in the community and therefore benefit businesses with increased sales. Some businesses have sidewalk sales.

Non-profit organizations benefit with sales to raise funds for their goals.Area residents appreciate the big community-wide sale to clean house and minimize “stuff” while garage sale shoppers appreciate finding great buys on needed items. To place your home or business location sale on the map, register at www.plattecitymo.com – click Sept. 8 on the calendar.

The cost to list a home or business address is $5.

For those who live rural or in an apartment, you can pay $10 to have a booth sale in front of the high school, Paxton building. Once you register your booth sale, you will be notified of your booth number and needed details. Another opportunity on the maps is ad space. Provide your ad soon to be included on the map.

Maps listing the sale locations plus what they have for sale will be available at both Cosentino’s Price Chopper and Casey’s General Store starting at noon on Friday Sept. 7.

Maps will also be available at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 at Booth #1.

It has been noted this annual community-wide garage sale brings not only shoppers from surrounding cities, but even surrounding states.

If you have questions, contact the Platte City Chamber of Commerce office at 816-858-5270, Monday through Thursday, 9am to 4pm.
