Big trouble in little Iatan. State auditors want the Village of Iatan to show them the money. More precisely, about $900 which is unaccounted for after being paid to two board of trustees members. In addition, state auditors want village officials to consult legal counsel and contact law enforcement about some irregularities uncovered by a recent state audit. In addition to the missing money, the audit also cites the board for issues related to conflicts of interest.
Indications are the Platte County Commission intends to place renewal of the county’s half cent sales tax for parks on the August ballot. Renewal of the tax at its current half cent rate has been promoted by those close to the county parks program.
Gary Witt of Platte County is one of three judges nominated to become the next member of the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Western District of the state. Witt, who lives in Parkville, has been an associate circuit judge in Platte County since 1998. He is 44 years old and holds a bachelor of arts degree in communication in 1987 from William Jewell College in Liberty and earned his law degree from Missouri University.
Chrysler has announced that it will eliminate about one fourth of its dealerships across the country, including the Tony Martens Dodge dealership in Platte City. Tony Martens Dodge has been open since 1987 at 601 Main Street.
