Santa Claus will be making a tour of Platte City this Saturday. Santa’s appearance is part of this year’s Christmas in Platte City celebration. Several local businesses will sponsor sales to help celebrate this occasion. The Main Street Association Chamber of Commerce and the City of Platte City are all getting involved in helping coordinate the event.

James Scott, Parkville Special Road District commissioner, expressed his disagreement over the distribution of road and bridge taxes at the county commission meeting Tuesday. Scott states as a private citizen he personally feels the commissioners are breaking the law by acting as commissioners on the County Common Road District. He says statutes prohibit this. Scott also disagrees with the way the county will be distributing the money from the road and bridge taxes. The distribution is regulated differently now that the county has become a first class county.
