Paul and Brenda Hann of Dexter have announced the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Mary Ann, to Scott Allen Thomas, son of Mike and Sue Thomas of Camden Point. Hann is a 1992 graduate of Dexter High School and is employed by the Bolch Oil Company and K-Mart in Columbia. Thomas will be graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia in December with a degree in electrical and computer engineering. The couple will be married on July 31 at the Ramada Inn in Columbia.

The Platte County Commission will be holding a bridge opening ceremony for the new Martin Road bridge located east of Hwy. C, about one mile south of Hwy. 92. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 19 at 10 a.m. at the bridge site. The new bridge was funded in 1992 and is three span P/S concrete double tee girder, 24 ft. roadway bridge structure. It replaced a bridge that was built in the 1920s that was no longer structurally sound to accommodate the everyday needs of the area residents in moving farm equipment, school buses, and other necessary traffic. The total project cost for the completion was $170,900; the CDBG program funded $140,900 of the project, leaving the county’s shared cost at $30,000.
