Kimberly Dawn Govier and Joseph Kyle Jackson have announced their engagement and upcoming marriage. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Govier of Smithville, and a 1990 graduate of Platte County R-3 High School. Kim is attending Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. The future groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Jackson of Marshall, Mo. and will graduate from Southwest Missouri State University in July 1993. The couple plans to be married Aug. 14, 1993 at Parkville Presbyterian Church in Parkville.
A truck parked near the Platte County Courthouse this past week carried a sign to remind people to vote “yes” on the half cent sales tax for law enforcement improvements, which will be on the ballot this coming Tuesday. County officials and an advisory committee have been distributing literature and talking to groups to answer the public’s questions.
Graduation ceremonies for the Park Hill Class of 1993 are scheduled for next week at the Music Hall in downtown Kansas City. Baccalaureate is set for Sunday, May 30 in Barry Auditorium at Park Hill High School. The public is invited to attend both events. Valedictorians have a cumulative grade point average of 4.0 or higher. The valedictorians are Jason Wright, Amy Louth, Ellyn Lee, Anne Hoecker, and Bryan Ball.
