Plans for the Fairways office buildings were approved by the Parkville Board of Aldermen. Aldermen voluntarily annexed the property, rezoned the property and approved the plats and final development plans for the site at a meeting Tuesday night. The property is located just north of the intersection of Crooked Road and Hwy. 45 and will include single story office buildings and a parking lot.
The Village of Farley, population 250, will soon have a new addition at board of trustees meetings. The board voted on Monday night to hire an off-duty sheriff’s deputy to sit in the meetings for $25 an hour with a minimum $50 per meeting. The expected cost is $600 per year. “I’m sure that since our last meeting you have heard about Kirkwood. There was a shooting in Kirkwood and quite a few people have raised this issue to me,” said Teresa Bing, board president.
On Monday, Tracy Police Chief Frank Thurman, accompanied by Olin Miller of Platte City, checked the depth of the Platte River at the Hwy. 92 bridge. The depth on Tuesday was 21.6 feet, on Wednesday it was 23.85 feet. The river is already flooding many low lying fields and some roads in the county. Route E was closed three miles east of Camden Point and Route KK is closed at Route B. Miller was interested to see how high the river has to get to threaten potential trails at the Platte City pocket park.
