The Missouri Supreme Court last week removed Platte County Associate Circuit Judge Floyd Baber from the bench based solely on incompetence. Baber had been suspended with pay since November of 1991 on the recommendation of a state commission. The opinion stated that Baber “is no longer capable of carrying out all of the duties of an associate circuit judge.” Since no malfeasance was involved, the court allowed Baber to keep his retirement benefits. A judicial nominating commission will begin the task of finding a replacement.
