EDITOR:

Many thanks for reaching out to Scott Fricker to provide his opportunity to tout all his impressive attributes in the Sept. 21, 2022 issue of the Landmark. I was mildly surprised that he offered a response, most of the cult-trained Republicans know to only respond to public requests from their party affiliates.

Fricker cites an impressive history participating on many boards in Platte County. As many of us know, most board positions are filled and controlled by the reigning party and are not filled in a fair or equitable manner. The board positions are considered the spring boards to elected office. Ergo, control who can participate on the boards, control the elected office. It provided the current presiding commissioners the opportunity to attack and harass the Mid-Continent Public Library when they could not force out the library administrators they didn’t like.

This control strips our county government of any opportunities to sit and participate in county government and implement a better system of check and balance. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

While Fricker details all his experience, he isn’t revealing what he plans on doing with it if he got elected. Remember when swearing an oath to public office meant something? When officeholders were supposed to consider ALL their constituents?

Reaffirm our country’s roots in democracy. Participate in local governmental activities, know your representatives, whether they want you to or not. Stop the cult madness. Vote.
