Christi Peterson was crowned the 1991 Platte County R-3 Homecoming queen at halftime of the Pirates vs. Lawson football game Friday night in Platte City. CJ Fulk was named the homecoming king. The Pirates celebrated with a 34-0 win over Lawson.


Platte City Mayor Steve Wegner signed a proclamation for “Celebrating Families Week” Oct. 13-19. Witnessing the event were John Elliott, co-chairman of People for Kids; Tim Ryan, city administrator; and Don Siegrist, Platte County R-3 superintendent.

Mr. and Mrs. James E. Gilliland of Platte City have announced the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Kim Michele Gilliland, to Jody Allen Morris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Morris of Wathena, Kan. The couple will be wed on May 2, 1992 at the First Baptist Church of Northern Heights, Kansas City, Mo.


Mr. and Mrs. R.P. Farmer will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 11. R.P. and Virginia Ann Ford were married Oct. 11, 1941 in Liberty. Both have been Platte County residents since childhood. Their children, Steve, Chuck, and Diann invite relatives and friends to join them in honoring R.P. and Virginia at a reception in their honor Oct. 13, 2-4 p.m. at the Branch Street Café in Platte City.
