The public is cordially invited to an information session for Heartland Clinic of Platte City on Thursday, March 9 at Northland Career Center. You’ll have the opportunity to meet and talk with providers as well as learn more about Heartland Clinic, which is Platte City’s newest health care partner. The local Heartland Clinic will feature providers Dr. David Lowry and Dr. Teresa Wesley.

Oppenheimer Inc., Parkville’s financial advisor to the city on the construction for a new City Hall, said higher-than-expected bids for the project will require cutting $500,000 from the original project plans. City Administrator Joe Turner and Mayor Kathy Dusenbery said some items could easily be eliminated. “There was going to be a $200,000 parking garage that wasn’t in the original plans,” Turner said. “We may be able to cut that pretty easily.” Dusenbery said: “I’m not sad about cutting the little atrium with the little peak thing on top. I never thought it was attractive so if it’s going to save us money I’m for getting ride of it.”
