I don’t want to brag, but the wife and I got approved for long term care insurance last week. Remember back when you were young and you got approved for a car loan, when you thought no way they would approve you? This is the old age equivalent of that.
So, now the goal is to pay this random insurance company for the rest of my life in the hope that I never have to use the service they approved me for. Life is odd.
I’ve given up on caring much about party politics, but these elections just make me wonder about the future of the human species. Some dude in Kansas is running on what he calls his “Bald Plan.” This pasty white, bald guy named Scott Schwab has named his taxpayer plan for the governor’s office the B.A.L.D. plan. That’s Better Affordable Living by Decreasing property tax for those of you not in the know and I suppose it is an attempt to make light of his bald head and presumably his love of acronyms.
In reality it’s just ignorant and I’m concerned that anyone votes for this guy, but I suppose that is a Kansas problem and certainly not a problem for me. Anyway, bald headed guy has policy position called BALD Plan. Vote accordingly.
Are their any exceptionally hairy candidates out there that have a “HAIRY” plan? Make up your own acronym, I don’t speak government.
Is it bad taste to start scouting out potential long term care facilities for myself?
Just in case you were not aware, the local news said it was hot this week and “DANGEROUS.” In a few months they will say it is cold and “DANGEROUS.”
I assume we should just quit going outside altogether.
If you are into Missouri politics, there is a pretty cool event going this weekend. The life and legacy of Jerry Litton will be celebrated Sunday, Aug. 2 at the Litton Agri-Science Learning Center in Chillicothe. Litton, who hailed from the bustling metropolis of Lock Springs, Missouri, was a rancher and US Congressman who many thought might become president.
He died in a plane crash in 1976 and if you were around these parts in those days, you remember it. I was 10 years old and they used to write election results on the windows of the downtown buildings in Plattsburg.
I remember it being written on those windows that Jerry Litton and his family had died. The event cast a dark shadow over election night across the state and country.
He had just won an upset victory for the Democratic nomination for United States Senate seat, and he boarded a plane in Chillicothe and headed to a victory celebration in Kansas City. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff and killed Litton and his family. It’s a tragic story that forged a new path in Missouri politics for decades into the future.
Anyway, it’s free, and if you want to see some good old politicking from the 1970’s, it is the place to be.
It’s also amazing to look back and see some of the positions of the Litton Democratic party. If you didn’t know better, it would remind you of today’s Republican party positions.
