The costume class was a traditional highlight of the day at the 4-H Horse Show Saturday at the Platte County Fair. A Roman chariot (Brigitte Parker, Kansas City), Siamese twins (Molly and Sue Withrow, Platte City) and a Playboy bunny (Rhonda Welch, Riverside) and a ballerina (Marianne Chenault, Kansas City) were some of the participants.


A husband-wife team from Tracy, Johnny Lee Edwards and Jacquetta Edwards, are among 82 young adults commissioned as missionary journeymen by the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board. Of those commissioned, 28 will work in Africa, 25 in Asia, 22 in Central and South American, and seven in Europe and the Middle East. All college graduates under the age of 27, the group will work for two years in 31 countries around the globe, assisting career missionaries and national Baptists in evangelism, church starting, education, medical missions, relief and construction.

Dr. Larry Quisenberry will take over the duties next week as the principal of Platte County R-3 High School in Platte City, succeeding George Taubel, who resigned to enter private industry. The new principal comes to Platte City from a position as the assistant principal at Joplin’s Memorial High School. He received his doctorate in educational administration from the University of Missouri.
