Mike and Cheryl McGinness of Platte City recently returned from a 21-day Viking River Cruise. The Landmark traveled with them on a river cruise from Amsterdam, Netherlands to Budapest, Hungary. Among the many interesting stops was a visit to Kinderdijk, a village in the Netherlands, featuring 19 original windmills built in the 18th century. These iconic mills were originally used for water management and are kept in working order. Some of the windmills are still used as homes today. “This UNESCO World Heritage site is well worth visiting,” said Cheryl. Headed somewhere noteworthy?
