At about 5:33 a.m. Kansas City officers responded to assist KCI Airport Police in regard to the fatality crash.

Police say preliminary investigation revealed that a dark gray Honda Fit was driving the wrong way on International Circle, just south of 1 Kc Boulevard when the driver collided head on with a dark gray Subaru.

The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead by the medical staff at a local hospital. The driver and passenger of the Subaru were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The KCPD says this is fatality No. 59 in Kansas City this year, compared to 82 at this time last year.

The investigation into Tuesday’s crash is ongoing, said Cpt. Jake Becchina of the KCPD.
