The Platte County R-3 High School fall production this year is The Matchmaker by Thornton Wilder, scheduled for Nov. 13. The play, having a cast of nine males and seven females, all comes together in a humorous story about a rich merchant who decides he needs a wife and hires a matchmaker named Dolly Levi, played by Kim Westhoff, a senior at the high school. The matchmaker becomes involved with two of the merchant’s menial clerks, and waiters of an expensive restaurant where this mixed up farce runs into hilarious climax of confusion.
The Platte County R-3 Chapter of the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) sent a full slate of candidates to the 1980-81 DECA state officer elections held in Jefferson City on Friday and Saturday. The chapter also announced plans for participating in the third annual Northwest Missouri Marketing Trip and a program to sell Wisconsin cheese as a fund-raising project.
